Positive Politics

October 18th, 2019

Dear editor,

October 21st is fast approaching marking the last and the most important day of the 2019 federal election. Candidates of all political stripes have been working tirelessly with their teams of volunteers to incite the electors of their electoral districts to act and vote. Here locally, it has been my priority to run a positive campaign based on respect and to devote my attention on the needs of Nickel Belt – Greater Sudbury residents rather than focusing on opponents.

In a digital age we have seen how quickly some campaigns fall prey to dirty politics. It is very unfortunate to see how bold some people can be when shielded behind a “screen” often leading to personal attacks on social media and in print. Sadly, this energy should be focused on listening to the needs of residents rather than making personal attacks against candidates.

Choosing to run for office at any level is a big decision and one that should not be taken lightly. I commend my fellow candidates for throwing their hats in the political ring and congratulate them for their dedication to the riding and to the democratic process; I am sure we all look forward to Monday’s results!

Those who enter politics should do so with the aspiration to improving the quality of life for the people in their ridings. That was my focus in 2015 and it remains the same today. This Monday choose someone with integrity who matches your values.  My commitment remains fixed on the best interests of the people of Nickel Belt – Greater Sudbury. If re-elected, I assure you this next mandate will concentrate on positive politics and build upon the great work and accomplishments achieved.  There is so much more we can achieve together, on October 21st Choose forward and please be sure to get out and VOTE!

Sincerely,

Marc Serré, Federal Liberal candidate for Nickel Belt
